ABOUT THE TARHEEL WRESTLING CLUB
The Tar Heel Wrestling Club (THWC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax exempt organization with a mission of advancing, supporting, and continuing to raise the bar for wrestling at all levels. The THWC will support athletes on their path to competing for world and olympic championships. The THWC was founded in 2016.
Our mission is to support the Triangle and surrounding areas of North Carolina with world class coaching, mentoring, and training opportunities to help make the Olympic dream of young men and women a reality.
The THWC Board of Directors includes President Lenny Bernstein, Vice President Joe Silvestro, Treasurer Robbie Dircks, and Secretary Tony Ramos.
U.S. OLYMPIC REGIONAL TRAINING CENTER (RTC)
The THWC is a USA Wrestling chartered club and an official U.S. Olympic Regional Training Center site that operates in accordance with all NCAA, USA Wrestling, and U.W.W. rules and regulations. The THWC provides coaching and training opportunities for wrestlers of all ages, from youth all the way to senior level athletes. Athletes can qualify to attend RTC practices by meeting the requirements set fourth by USA Wrestling.
CLUB, CAMPS, AND CLINICS
THWC offers club practices for youth through high school wrestlers. The club practices on campus at the University of North Carolina and competes at local, state, and national events. Camps and Clinics are offered both on site at UNC and at satellite locations. If you are interested in attending or hosting please contact Brian Tucker, Director of Club, Camps, and Clinics. These opportunities cater to athletes of any skill level and will teach athletes the skills and techniques that have brought UNC Wrestling to national prominence.
GOLF OUTING, CASINO NIGHT, AND OTHER FUNDRAISERS
A golf tournament and a casino night are held as fundraiser to support the club and the RTC Senior Level athletes. These events are a fun and energetic atmosphere with all proceeds benefiting THWC.
