Do you offer a free trial?
Yes, you can come for one week (2 practices) and if you like it the following week you would need to pay your registration fees.
What is the Tar Heel Kids Wrestling Club?
We provide wrestling instruction and skills for all youth thru high school competitors with in the Triangle Area. The goals of the program are to develop the core fundamentals and principals of wrestling to prepare the athlete to be successful on the mat.
Where is THKWC located?
Fetzer Gym - UNC Wrestling Room
What will my child need?
All Athletes will need wrestling shoes, headgear, workout clothes, and water.
What if my child can only go half time?
We encourage everyone of our athletes to not miss any practices however, we understand the everyone has a busy schedule and we will allow some tardiness and absences but training will not pause, slow down, or rewind for any one.
Where do I purchase a USA Wrestling Card?
You can purchase your card at: https://www.usawmembership.com/login. We recommend you purchase the full-athlete. USA card run from September 1st, 2021 thru August 31st, 2022.
What do I need to coach my child at an event?
To coach at a USA Wrestling event you are required to have a USA Wrestling leadership membership which will require a background check, and safe sport training for local events. For regional events you will need all the above plus a copper/bronze certificate.
How can I volunteer at events?
To volunteer you have to compete a USA Wrestling membership volunteer which includes safe sport training.
Is there a youth competition season?
We will have a youth tournament schedule that we hand out at the beginning of the youth season with expected competitions for our team.
Where can I purchase team gear?
We will have a team store where you can purchase all your team Nike gear.
Can I watch practice?
Yes, we encourage you to attend practice. All we ask is that you let the coaches coach and be there to support your athletes.
Can we attend UNC Wrestling matches?
We will build our schedule to attend UNC Wrestling matches as a team together.
What group should I sign up for?
Beginner group is recommended for Elementary wrestlers or new participants to the sport. Advance group is recommended for wrestlers with some experience under them who are more serious about competitive wrestling.
Is there a scholarship, sibling, or team discount?
